In many industries, such as video gaming and social networks, consumers place greater value on products with a large network of users and a large variety of complementary products (McIntyre & Srinivasan, 2016). Platform sponsors may promote specific components to drive more values to customers. However, many questions that concern the dynamics of platform-mediated networks remain. This thesis trajectory explores how firm strategy can successfully unlock the lucrative opportunities platforms offer.
