The smart industry is a promising driver of digital transformation in the Netherlands. Volberda: 'We expect that by 2025, robots will perform 47% of activities in the value chain'. Increasingly, smart robots perform farming tasks, serve guests in restaurants, or cut fruits and vegetables, thereby relieving humans from mundane tasks. As a result, organisations and governments around the globe are betting big on the industrial revolution. For example, Germany allocates a federal budget of 40€ billion to subsidize industry 4.0. The Dutch government announced a five-year plan that includes a 20€ billion budget to support knowledge development, infrastructure, and research. However, the adoption of robotics technology in business within the Netherlands could be higher. Around 50% of firms have not yet started to think about robotics.
